So I've created a setup on Epicmafia that I would like to run on here if there's enough interest. There's a copy of the setup here.
The setup will run as it will on epicmafia, only forum style.
-You may PM eachother during the day, so long as you send a copy of the PM to me. I will then run each PM through tekbot on IRC to simulate the possibility of a whisper leak (I will be rolling a d20 for the odds, a critfail is a leak), or you may INTENTIONALLY LEAK a PM by messaging me with the word LEAK clearly indicated in the PM. Size, color, and bold/underline will help point this out. The 'LEAK' will be deleted in such a case. I might fail to notice the PM right away, so just nudge me if I do a votecount or something of the sort without leaking it.
-You may NOT quote your role PM.
-At night, the mafia can communicate freely to eachother via PM.
-As on the site, the Watcher and Lookout do not visit when they check someone.
-The game will start at night.
The point of the watcher is to see the mafia nightkill or to confirm a cop, the point of the lookout is to find the cop, whether to kill them or to base their cc around them.

Yes, thus the risk of whispering and the inclusion of the forced leak feature. Mafia chat cannot leak, however.

So when you get a leak, you know that they can't both be mafia? (Or can mafia deliberately force leaks, too?)

Only mafia can communicate at night, these messages at night cannot leak. Anybody (including mafia) can communicate during the day, all such messages can leak.

That's not what worries me. What worries me is that you might make me the real watcher JUST because then nobody would believe me when I claim, and instead just assume I must be scum trying to pull something and they should totally trust whichever mafia steps up to counter.
